Let us set aside
Once and for all
This fearsome effort to control all things,
Including us.
Release us from this modern despotism.
The effort to infantilize,
Where nothing is left but to “fit in”
Or be cast aside.
Not a team player.
Leave us with the unknown.
And our questions:
Love, the afterlife, morality, trust.
These things that fill us with wonder.
Our beliefs,
Intolerably wild,
Where we may stand in the woods,
On two feet, firm,
Ground underneath,
Resilient.
The forest all around,
Not a safe space at all.
Daring to take risks
And bear the uncertainty,
In the spirit of play,
And faith in whatever may happen.
