WAIT, WHAT?

In January I made an appointment to see a doctor.
I just wanted them to check something out.
They gave me an appointment for May.
Who knows what would happen in 5 months.
Eventually May rolled around and, since I was still here, I decided to go.
I arrived a few minutes before they told me to arrive. The parking lot was full,
But they were excited because they had free valet parking.
I gave them my car.
My appointment was for 2:15pm but they asked that I arrive by 2:00 pm
I was there by 1:55
When I walked to the reception desk an alert on my phone greeted me,
“Glad you are here!, please check in”
I did.
Then, being old, I walked up to the front desk and said,
Hi, I’m here.
The nice young man at the front desk looked at his screen and said,
OK, you’re checked in.
I waited thinking there would be more instruction but he said nothing.
I asked, What do I do?
He said, Oh, you’ve never been here before! Go over there and sit.
I did.
Overhead was a TV like at the airport. I looked at it with trepidation.
It turned out to be showing wait times for the various doctors,
Mine was 45 minutes.
I went up to the young man at the desk and asked, was that real?
He said, yes.
I told them I couldn’t wait that long,
5 months and 45 minutes seemed excessive,
I asked to reschedule,
They gave me an appointment for October.
I went home to wait.
