THE DISHES

Outside of where I was,
Coming from the next room,
There was lively conversation,
Politics and the concerns of the day,
All of it important and vital,
Along with this little thought,
Coming thru loud and clear.
Some of us make dinner,
Some of us do the dishes,
Or maybe chop up a bunch of stuff,
Or set the table.
It doesn’t take all that much to form,
A community,
To give shape and purpose to ourselves,
All of us,
But it makes all the difference,
In the world.
