OUR WILD SELVES

It would appear,
We’ve been corrupt for years now,
Moral reasoning being a hard skill to develop.
Over time most of us,
Do our best, try to be good,
But are constantly tricked,
By circumstance, ourselves and others,
Into thinking because we know a little,
We know a lot.
But, yeah, not really.
We need practice,
The act of sitting in solitude,
Quietly with ourselves,
Watching our breath,
Learning to reflect,
On who we are,
What we’ve done,
And how to tame our wild self,
And bring about,
The peace, good and love
We so desperately,
Desire.
