We forget,
Or misremember,
Events and people happening now,
And see such importance where likely there may be none.
100 years from now,
We will be incredulous,
At what has been erased,
From our collective history,
And what we have held onto,
As the cause of it all.
Don’t assume you know,
What is real,
And what will be remembered as such.
There is an interconnectedness to all things,
But that may be all we can say.
Far better to stay here in the present,
In the warmth of the sunlight of a cool spring morning,
The taste of ice water, the clink of glasses,
The gentle laughter of friendly voices,
That fills your heart with love,
And the possibilities yet to be revealed.
