You Can’t Miss It

Skipping over virtue,
we hope to govern ourselves
regulate our hearts and minds
without recognizing the work.

There’s just no way

Our minds hop around from here to there
Drawn by our own wanting and yearning
For, of all things,
Peace of mind.

Yet.

There are simple rules:
No killing, lying, stealing, taking of intoxicants, sexual misconduct.

That’s it.

Well sure.

But then you fall.

After all,
we are only human.

Well sure.

That’s right.

It means,
if you want peace now,
you have one lifetime to get it done.

So you will have to fight like hell.

Peace IS possible,
but it takes following the rules

Actively practicing virtue,
cannot be skipped.

Ignore it at your peril.
