EASTER SUNDAY

Easter Sunday
You’ve seen it all before.
Darkness comes earlier and earlier,
And sleep seems so appealing.
The cold,
An invitation to curl up and forget about it.
Maybe it’s finally time to rest.
Once and for all.
You trick or treat
And decorate
You eat the turkey
Drink the wine
Open the gift
Drink the wine
Celebrate the New Year
Drink the wine
Once again.
All these markers,
Carefully laid out,
To get you from station to station.
Thru something
You can’t describe to anyone,
Yet everyone knows what you mean.
A season with no end.
Then…
Green.
Sun glinting on green.
And Yellow.
The light on your skin creates warmth.
Which hasn’t happened for months.
You sweat as you walk.
And recognize,
You are starting over.
Again.
