EGGS

Butter in the pan,
Eggs cracked on the side there,
Shells pulled apart,
Yolks slip out,
A pinch of milk,
Some salt,
Stir a bit while they cook.
My father standing over the pan,
Spatula in hand,
I stand next to him.
There could have been a chair,
I don’t remember.
Sunday morning,
Before church,
Just us.
