THE TWIST OF IT

Amidst the Medici’s,
Serving the Florentine republic,
Where families vying for power used killing,
As a means to become influencers.
Using his “knowledge of the actions of great men”
He suggests that,
Deception, evil as it may be,
Is valuable as a tool,
To bring peace and instill civility,
When times are hard.
Lincoln, Alexander, Genghis Khan, The Roosevelts
Knew what they were subjecting themselves to,
A dance with the devil and the possibility of hell,
In exchange for a chance at peace for those they loved.
