WHAT YOU MAY KNOW

“The heart has its reasons that the reason does not know”
– Pascal
You move toward something,
You cannot possibly say what,
Just a sense that this may be the way to go.
You bump into things,
You could not have foreseen,
But, using hope as a flame,
You persist.
You get knocked down,
Then recover,
And make something in parts,
Beautiful,
Yet, not all of it.
You think more deeply than before,
About things that would not have come to mind,
Years ago.
Faith, in all it’s workings,
Takes kindling,
So you look around for what you might add,
When you can.
A page, a sentence, a bracelet, a ring,
A dance,
A beautifully crafted chair or table,
A candle, a word,
Something you’ve made,
That maybe eases or pleases another.
That’s what you’ve got.
This body, this mind,
And knowing you’ve done it before.
A willingness to take another step,
And not stop,
Until what you knew was inside,
Is out,
And you can say,
It is done.
