SUPER-MOM

We were at a park,
By the water,
You held my hand.
Then a shout,
Some splashing,
I turned to look,
Then turned back,
And you were gone.
It was terrifying.
Where will I go?
How should I be?
Will I be recruited
By Dodger and the boys
For some nefarious purpose.
Some unshaven, creepy old guy,
Breathing into my face.
But then,
You came back to me,
Soaking wet,
Having pulled
Somebody else’s child from 3 feet of water.
You were laughing.
I was so grateful for your hand again.
Feeling so cool,
Walking away from the park
With Super-mom.
