It’s easy to get caught up in your desire for peace.

Something we’d like to have.

Letting go sounds easy.

But when it comes to you,
the you you think is so important,
maybe not so much.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Not anymore than I believe in a self,
Continuous and lasting,
Forever and ever, amen.

Faith,
Is something primitive
Beyond hypothesis

Like knowledge from the sun
as you climb the hill,
out of the shadow,
Into the light.

What will last
Is the knowledge
Of these small things
Irreducible and infinite.

Bits of you and your energies,
your knowing,
your feeling,
your doing.

But for now,
try saying these words,

I am free of all that.
