One time,

A long time ago,

Cheerfulness was considered a virtue.

It was something you actively worked at

To convey and share.

It was part of the toolset,

Of being an adult.

A smile and maybe a slight chuckle,

Were what was needed,

To show you were on board.

We say it’s hard now,

Times are tough

There is a plague,

And bad leaders,

And global warming,

And now inflation.

But there it is again,

A decision is needed,

About all these things happening,

And how you will respond to them.
