Go Ahead…Make The Most of Your Time
It was hot,
We sat on the sidewalk eating our lunch,
Backs against the storefront, our bikes nearby,
People passed by and thought nothing of it.
The owner of the store, who was there, knew us.
He came out and talked like we were family.
Maybe he was having a cigarette,
“Just clean up after yourselves”.
We’d been playing baseball in the park,
With some kids from another neighborhood,
Maybe we were pissed cuz we’d lost,
Or happy cuz we won,
Either way we laughed,
Making fun of each other,
Or this or that play.
The world was a unified whole,
Entirely indecipherable,
And yet there we were,
Sharing what insight we had gained,
Making the most of our time,
Sipping soda and eating our sandwiches.
