GARLIC, CHILI POWDER, TURMERIC, GINGER

Person Cooking on Black Pan

Yesterday,
You made dinner,
Not thinking of the coming election,
Nor the end of things,
You considered,
Garlic, chili powder, turmeric, perhaps ginger
Scented steam,
Rose and filled the room.
You smiled,
Responding to an observation,
A sly wording with a witty edge,
Your daughter made.
You stirred the contents of the pan,
And searched for the place in your heart,
Where the warmth,
From the hope of this moment,
Could be extended to all things,
To all people,
That each one of us,
Could have this love,
And know it would last.
