FIELDS OF LIGHT

Night in the rolling hills of central California,
Stars, a half moon and deep purple black of the sky above,
Around the corner of a fence we walk
Into fields of light!
The ingenuity of the clever.
Geometric shapes of metal,
Some spinning and filled with light,
Cast colored shadows on the smoothed floor of field.
Music not recognizable but familiar
Oozing sounds,
We are awash in our own experience.
Magically we set aside the world for an hour
And walk.
While others all around us,
Mouths agape giggling amongst themselves, do the same.
Colored light in bottles, stacked 8 feet high, spinning,
Wonderful.
We can make beautiful things,
That remind us of who we are
Mysterious and unknown
Spooked in wonder
Laughing, we come together in the joy of it all
Satisfied for just a minute or two.
